Saucier is a personal recipe book. We collect exactly as much data as it takes to keep your book in sync between your devices, and we do nothing else with it.
We do not collect: location, contacts, advertising identifiers, or any activity outside the app. There are no ads and no profiling in Saucier.
The only purpose is running the app: storing your book, syncing it between devices and fixing bugs. The data is not used for advertising and is not sold.
The data is stored on servers in the EU region. Retention:
When you paste a link into "Add from a link", the page or the video is downloaded by our server, not by your device, and it does so on its own behalf: the site owner or YouTube sees a request from our side, not from yours. Neither your email, nor the installation identifier, nor your IP address is passed along.
For a link to a video, two more steps are added.
First, we fetch the public data of the video from YouTube: the title, the description, the list of chapters and the subtitles — written by the video's author or generated automatically by YouTube itself. We do not download the audio and do not recognise speech: if a video has no subtitles, parsing honestly refuses.
Then the text has to be understood — where the ingredients are and where the steps are — and this work is done by an external text-processing service, Anthropic (Claude API). Only the public contents of the video go there: the title, the description, the chapters and the subtitle text. Nothing of yours goes there — not your email, not the installation identifier, not the contents of your book, and not who exactly asked for the parsing. We do not store the subtitle text anywhere: it lives only in memory while parsing runs, and what remains in the technical cache is the assembled recipe.
For a link to a site, the same text-processing service is used in exactly one case: when you yourself ask to translate the recipe into another language. Then only the text of the recipe extracted from that page goes there — the title, the description, the ingredient lines, the steps and the servings line. Not the address of the page, not the author, not the photo, and nothing of yours. If you do not ask for a translation, this step is not performed at all.
Parsing saves nothing into your book: it returns a draft to the editor, and the recipe appears in your book only after you tap "Save".
Nobody else. There are no third parties with access to the contents of your book.
They are sent only with your consent — a toggle in the app settings; by default you are asked to decide. A report contains a technical description of the error, the app version and the platform version. Reports contain no recipe contents, no photos and no email of yours.
Exporting the book is available in the settings at any time: a file with all the recipes is assembled right on the device and works without the internet; an archive with the photos can be requested from the server. The file belongs to you and is readable by the app itself (import) and by any JSON viewer.
Settings → "Delete account": confirm with your password, after which access is revoked on all devices at once, and the recipes, the photos and the account itself are irreversibly erased within 30 days. Signing in during those 30 days cancels the deletion. Before deleting, the app will offer to save the book to a file.
